Well he's safe for the moment. Thanks all

He's currently living downtown chicago 646 south state street at The Pacific Garden Mission the folks who produce the unshakled radio bit.
He committed to the initial 60 days.
The first 30 days he cannot leave the building at all. He can have visitors from 3 to 9 Saturdays. He only has his undergarments, toiletries, books and Bible. They will feed clothe give medical care etc. He can have phone calls.
He will begin working 8 hours a day in the morning plus Three chapels/intense study of the word directed by the leaders. Plus meals he'll be busy at least 12 hours a day.
When donations arrive, day or night, no matter when and they happen a lot theres an all hands on deck and everyone drops everything even resting to work on unloading.
Failure to follow any rule is immediately met with disciplinary action. They don't take any guff and are very much in control there. It comes across loud and clear.
They have very firm discipline and it covers all aspects of life. If he doesn't like it he's always free to leave but he'll have to figure out his exit strategy on his own now.
Lots of big men. Mostly african american men. No idleness, lots of discipline and structure. No internet no cds etc. I have most of his earthly possessions now.
He can always wander out onto the streets of chicago. I think he'll be more scared of that then staying. If not he'll be back on their steps in a day or two assuming he lives.
After 60 days he can reup for a full year. At 8 mos they get him working outside the mission in a real job. Some stay longer than a year.
They go out to churches after the 30 days. But only approved churches. United Pentecostals aren't on the list I found out. This will be hard on him. I didn't want to separate him from his faith even if it is odd but it had to be.
Frankly this program is what I think he needs. He's probably scared to death now. Should toughen him up and if he comes out the other side change him for the good.
When he leaves he leaves he leaves and where he goes he goes but he's on his own now.

Prayers that he responds to this and is safe. I only worry about his mental illness you mentioned. I hope that is either addressed or a non-issue. Thanks for the update, that was a scary story.

Sometimes that's all that matters in these situations. One day at a time.
Glad to read it.

Thank you, I'm sorry I missed the original. It's good he's in a safe place and that his bro's family is safe, too.
Mental illness is very, very difficult.
