I was wondering who y'all thought was the best NFL coach...
I think this is on my mind since my team, the Chargers, are not doing well under Marty Schottenheimer, and they were supposed to be much improved this year. It seems as if he has lost the team (even though they won their first game yesterday).
They'll probably be searching for a new coach next year...
My choices as top current coaches:
1. Bill Parcells--Won 2 superbowls, went to another, and how many others would he have been in if the 9ers didn't have their dynasty going on there. Witness the job he's done with the Cowboys this year. The flat out best NFL coach in the world.
2. Bill Bellichick--Patriots--Was the D coordinator for all of Parcells Super Bowl teams. Won his own with the Pats. Continue to win this year with massive amounts of injuries...and really no running game to speak of. This guy can flat out coach.
3. Jon Gruden--Bucs--I know they are off to a bad start this year. But here is a guy who is passionate, and his team reflects his personality. Went into Tampa, installed a new offense (learning curve of @ 3 years usually) and won the Superbowl.
Who's the top guys in your opinions?

I don't know much, but I like Gruden's attitude and fire. He seems so passionate about what he does.
(Ok, it's an emotion based opinion. )

Another vote for Gruden.

Now that Shula's gone, gotta go with Parcells. No contest.

We're just fallin' in love with coach Tice here in the land of Purple. Talk about a flip-flop from his initiation last year.
I tell ya this guy rocks! He got fully padded up with team last Friday to get them hyped up. He is really one of the guys. Yesterday he was takin' hand slaps and givin' buttslaps. to coach Tice.
What I also think is great is he's such an underdog. Listening to an interview bit the other day, he says he doesn't hob-knob with other coaches and the league. He's his own man. Running the show with heart and guts. I'd love to see him as coach of the year.

I really like Tice too. He seems like a good guy, and a far departure from his predecessor.
His track record so far, is too incomplete to put him on my list of great coaches. But, he has certainly done one heck of a good job.

While Tice is doing well with the Vikings, this isn't his first year with the Vikings.
Parcells is by far the best coach right now. He has made Quincy Carter forget that he is Quincy Carter.
Dick Vermeil (sp?) would be second. He's doing the same thing in KC that he did with STL.

I gotta go with Parcells also as no. 1. He has produced winners no matter where he went.
Belichick always has been a great coach but his time spent in Cleveland was a learning process for him. He was the most sullen, uncommunicative idiot you could imagine with the press. Browns fans are fairly knowledgable football people for the most part and some of the explanations for his personnel moves were pure foolishness. He's not well liked around here.

The Chargers should be able to get Dan Reeves for a steal at the end of the year. I doubt he'll be doing anything.

Butch Davis of the mighty powerhouse Cleveland Browns who choked and lost to someone's Chargers.... Nevermind, I'm beginning to believe he's an idiot so...
Parcells, hands down. He's making believers out of us Cowboy fans.

We've lost a lot of respect for Da Boys over the last ten years. I sure hope he can regain that lost ground. Winning games is one thing, having a team full of thugs is a whole 'nother ballgame. I would really like to see them clean up their act.

Not that I'm a Boys fan or anything, because I so am not, but much of their trouble is related to that assclown of an owner.

Longtime Parcells fan here.....I can't say I was happy with his choice of teams to return to coaching for, I hate the Boys, but at least he's back.
Ditto owner troubles for Philly....witness?
