Well everyone,
After 564.06 training and racing miles in 76 hours, 28 minutes and 20 seconds I now feel ready to tackle the challenge of a 50K. I don't know why I decided to try this but I did. What a long strange trip it has been. This training started off as a personal quest to really push my body. When I started running again 3 years ago my whole goal was to finish the Gate River Run and now I am about to try a 50K. I have pushed myself harder mentally and physically than I think I ever have in my life. In doing so I have hit a level of fitness and capability that I never imagined I would attain. I have gone from dying just trying to keep up with the eclectic band of lunch time runners at work, to where I am now mad that one member is injured, and chasing his own dream, since I wanted someone to chase this summer as I try and qualify for Boston.
My family, non-running friends, and co-workers first responses were “Why? Your Nuts!, Your Crazy! etc.” From you guys I heard “Cool!, Good Luck!, Wow!, then you said Your Nuts!”
On Sunday I will be running to meet my own personal goals but somewhere along the way I am sure my mind will wander to my lunchtime runs and the bizarre conversations that I had with my cohorts to help pass the miles. Granted during the last 3 months many of my miles were in silence since they were solo. It is amazing how much you can learn about people even as you run in silence for many a mile. We all present a certain persona to our work place but when the training group I run with hit the trails that persona gets left behind. In one-way or another they all helped me with advice, words of encouragement or even the jokes about injuring everyone so I can be number 1, which I'm not YET. Somehow 2 of them managed to stay healthy enough to run the River Run faster than me. 
To you at the RR I want to say thanks also for all your online support especially when I had some kind of mental burn-out day a couple of weeks ago.
Especially to my wife Christine, I want to say Thank You and I love You, for putting up with all the time’s I have come home tired from work, running, coaching etc. You always offer me encouragement even when you don’t understand what the goal I hit means.

I'm proud of you for running after a dream. Life is too short, we all need dreams to dream and we all need the courage to see them come about.
You have that courage and that makes you stand out.
