I'm feeling vaguely elkid-like running two races in one weekend, but this one was unscheduled. In fact, I only found out about it midweek. It was a 5K for the hospital in the next town (not my hospital) and since we had to go to town and buy groceries anyways I decided to run it. OH yes, free registration, so why not?
It was 50 degrees but very windy here. Being lazy from yesterday paid off, I retrieved my grungy windshirt from yesterday's race and wore it.
Cambridge, Ohio, is a very hilly town but this route stayed off the really steep hills. In fact, there seemed like alot of downhills, which worried me, since they usually lead to uphills.
Splits:
8.34 (nice downhill)
9.08
9.19
0.38 for a total time of 27.40. This is about my average 5K time.

My dilemma: I passed some high school boys about mile 2 and was alone the rest of the way in. No one passed me, but the person in front of me was way out there. This seems to happen alot. I get left behind by the fast crowd, but I seem to be way ahead of the back of the pack. I feel I am the lone midpacker out there LOL! I guess I need to get faster so I can run with others. It's just harder to keep up the pace when you're all alone out there.

not too bad. I wonder if you thought you got lost running by yourself.

That's a nice pace, especially after the trail run.
