#1 - Make sure you nail down specifics about concurrent users, etc. when designing a system.
I can't believe I overlooked this tiny aspect. Actually, I can. I assumed my main contact there (whom I've known for a while) knew what Access was/was not capable of.
Sorry, Jim. It's NOT capable of a 20-30 concurrent user load. Give me a server w/ SQL 2000 and we'll be in business with little to no downtime.

Concurrent users = number of people online at any given time, just like the forums (which run on a MySQL database).

Yeah, that sums it up pretty good.
PH, I've got MySQL at home and have played with it some. I'll probably play with it more after I finish with the DBA certifications in a couple of months.

It's actually a very nice and flexible development platform, provided you are not doing massive transaction and/or analytical processing. It's just designed for desktop database work, which happens to be adequate for *most* of what people need.
