This may have been a thread once, but i don't remember, but...
What was the first concert you went to?
Mine was at the Minnesota State Fair in 1994 (i think). Alison Krauss opened for Amy Grant.

My first concert was Smashing Pumpkins. I hated it. It was a group event with a program I was involved with at the time. They get on my last nerve when I hear them on the radio.

Styx Pieces of Eight Tour, 1978, Notre Dame Athletic and Convocation Center
We thought that they were angels,
But much to our surprise,
They climbed aboard their starships,
And headed for the skies.

Its been a thread because I remember explaining this before. I my first concert wasn't until I was 17 thanks to the Who trampling tragedy in Cincinnati in 79ish. As a result of that my parents were ultra protective. SO at 17 after missing dozens of fabulous concerts my first was Live where I might as well have been trampled, it was in a gymnasium (read: no seats) and some loser who was 'body surfing' fell on my face. "now I'll never be a teen model"
I just remembered, when I was about 5 I saw the Everly Brothers after a baseball game...does that count?

Fleetwood Mac, 1975, Brown County Arena, Green Bay.
Just as they started to make it big, or sell out from a blues-influenced band to pop, depending on your POV.

We are talking serious old school here.
The year was 1977.
The Bar Kays opening up for Parliament Funkadelic......
During the 1970s, Parliament, Funkadelic and a host of related offshoots placed roughly 60 singles on the R&B charts and were among the hottest attractions on the concert circuit. They were responsible for some of the most theatrical tours ever undertaken, deploying one of the largest props—the otherworldly "Mothership"—ever dragged from city to city. Financial, legal and personal problems grounded the Mothership in 1980, but Clinton resurfaced stronger than ever as a solo artist on Capitol Records.. "Atomic Dog," the popular dance-funk centerpiece of 1982's Computer Games—one of Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Albums of the 80's—topped the R&B chart for four weeks. In 1983, Clinton also released an album credited to "the P-Funk All-Stars," which drew on the talents of various members of Parliament and Funkadelic (including Bootsy Collins), plus guests like Sly Stone and Bobby Womack.
