Charlotte! We ran right into them outside of the coliseum. The lady who sang "18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses" was one of the opening acts.

The Bar Kays opening up for Parliament Funkadelic......

Ah, Parliament Funkadelic. There were times, in my youth, that I knew it was 130 or 230 am on a Saturday night because the local radio station always played "Maggot Brain" at this hour.

One month before the concert, my buddy and I showed up at the Gardens, three hours before they went on sale. We got front row seats but...well, the next day at school, my ears were still ringing during the afternoon classes.
Surprised? By going to see Grand Funk or being old enough to have seen them in '72? Okay...or both?
