And of course, were you to do this, you'd be in violation of Title VII, since presumably you weren't saying it to every one of your employees, but were singling some out based on national origin.

And I would not have done it anyway. So i'd be screwed based upon the terms of this Sensenbrenner Act. Through no fault of my own.

I'm intrigued to see what actually happens. The Keys has an extremely diverse labor base. I am lucky for this in that I learn a lot about different cultures, including everything from herbal remedies to voodoo.

I also see people who work 100 + hours a week and live 8 - 10 to an apartment with two bedrooms. Does my husband employ them?

Yes, he does. Does he also work long hours? Yes, he does. I have not seen him other than waking up for the last week or so.

We had one weekend away three weeks ago.

So some explain to me the answer in this messd-up country, overworking everyone that they do not outsource or downsize or send to get killed in an unneccessary war started by some chimp with a personal grudge.

And we are supposed to think that this is a great place?

Someon explain this concept to me.

I lived in Miami, FL for over 10 years of my life. I know what happens in South Florida. Regardless, this has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand nor my ability to field opinions on the subject.

You're close, but the Keys are a bit of a different situation. And sorry for getting off-topic.

So what is the point? That we should have open borders and invite everyone in the world that wants to come to the US into the country? Health care, food stamps, child care, job training, and free education for anyone that can land on US territory?

No, the point is that it's Big Honky Lie to say this is about security. B/c it isn't. It's to keep out the Mexicans. The gov should just own that already.

We already do have an open border policy, using a loose analogy of "border" meaning point of entry. You can come live here, and after a while you can use our food stamps, etc. (What free education? What free job training?) But it's gonna be a lot easier for you if you come from a W. European country, Indochina, or are here on a business visa.

The way you write, no one should be allowed in ever again. If that's what you mean, you'll never get your wish, nor in my opinion, should you. If you mean keep out the Mexicans, say as much. Just don't call it "security" b/c that is complete and total crap.

And if that is your concern, maybe we could focus the discussion to the pros and cons of what the pending legislation says. My preference is to wait until there is some actual legislation, b/c there are so many bills now and they're so thick it would be useless.

Did I ever say its about security one time in this thread?

From the very first paragraph of the article:
Quote:
WASHINGTON -- Every sensible immigration policy has two objectives: (1) to regain control of our borders so that it is we who decide who enters, and (2) to find a way to normalize and legalize the situation of the 11 million illegals among us.

I find no fault with either of these statements. Do you?

No. The trouble I have is with the notion that current policy is itself reasonable, when so much of it isn't.

Where did you get that from? I was agreeing with Go in the fact that the Gov't is trying to say we need the wall due to security problems which is BS.
