Started out could not sleep all night up down.I was not sure about the drive down Map Quest said 1:58 min .We were suppose to be in the water by 6 am.Out of bed at 3:20 on the road by 3:30 the 2 hrs drive took me 1:05 min so I get there no one else there.I tried to sleep in the truck with no luck, @ 6:00 someone finally shows up.Oh I forgot to say this was my Tri for the year it was really a practice but I was running it as the real thing like usual I have to work next Sunday.Their were 5 of us all doing the short coarse. We talk a little then went to the beach. It was very cool out side long sleeves and still cold. The water had fog come off of it.In the water we go the guy over the tri club done the start.Bam here we go could not see the other side because of the fog.Around the first buoy the the 2nd now a straight shot to the boat dock.Of the 5 i was 4th out of the water right behind #2 time 9:58 then T1 went great 1:56 now the bike we had to make a loop in the park witch was good we got to see the run coarse I was 3 place on the bike passing one of the first out swimmers
The bike coarse suck big had hill 6 total i past everyone when the guy in front of me had a flat and he friend stop to help witch was fine his friend did not do the run anyway.
So now I am in the lead Lol 1 of 5 I finished the bike T2 also smooth 1:15 the run was out and back rolling hills.Legs felt heavy to start but came around quick run time 24:14.Over all felt really good i know it will be different with more people in the water but I finally got to try a tri now I know I can just have to get faster.
Swim 9:58
T1 1:56
Bike 43:19
T2 1:15
Run 24:14
Total 1:19:52

Congrats in doing your first tri! I'm also planning to do my 1st tri/duathlon in the spring of next year having joined the tri/du club at school though I have to get a second hand road bike soon and also work on swimming which is probably my weakest area right now...

Congrats on your first Tri.

Sleeplessness is always a problem before a big race even for experienced racers.

To prevent (more like lessen) the "Heavy legs" feeling after the bike, you can shift to an easy gear for the last 1/4 mile and spin. The spinning reduces the lactic acid in your legs.
