I just loaded Firefox on my machine here at work and have been using it for a couple of days. Does it seem like the animated gifs are playing faster than with IE?

yes.
and 1.0.2 is faster than the 0.8 that I had been on until last week, which was still faster than IE.
but 1.0.2 is noticeably faster.
