I lost about 95% of the interior contents, including my running stuff. Good news is that the kids and I am in temp housing till the house is rebuilt, and we should be getting the contents check soon.
It has been devistating to us, but we will get thru it. I am still sad about all the personal stuff I lost. BTW it is not the prefered way to clean the junk out of your house
A bunch of runners pulled together and had a nice queen size quilt made out of race shirts from all over the world. It is the most prized possesion I have.

Glad to see you're all getting back on your feet. I read about your troubles at the "other" running site. Not something anyone should have to go through. |
Had no ideal where this topic was going to go as co-workers happened to ask me about my weekend, and I related to them about the smoke pig and the fire.
There was other food (meat) beside the pig (deer) but I guess if was a family tradition for all members turning 30 to have a pig roast.
By buring down the doghouse I mean the dog was in the house due to our cooking to keep it away from harm, and we were a little too close to the garage....but I think my dozing off had something to do with that.
Glad you and your family are doing well RangerG and thannks for the comments here to everyone.

my BIL was a little tipsy xmas of 2001 and was manning the turkey fryer in my garage. There was a little spill......no fire damage....but it took about 6 months to get that greasy smell out of the garage. My brothers kept close tabs on the BIL the rest of night. Unfornuately said BIL is a great cook and noone could take over his duties

After reading this thread yesterday I started cooking some lunch. I made some gravy on the stove, took it off the burner and set it aside. A minute or so later I had set my potholder on the same burner (did I mention I hadn't turned it off?) and it promptly smoked like a motha.
