Thanks for all your good wishes....just got back from the hospital, they admitted him around 4:30 this afternoon and he's all wired up and monitored and stuff. So far, no conclusions....blood sugar is a little off (he's also borderline diabetic) BP a little elevated but they have him on a nitro patch so that'll stay in check. Tomorrow they're doing a stress test, echo and ultrasound of his carotid arteries (in the neck, which if blocked could easily cause the dizziness). EKG and chest xray were fine. If they need to be unblocked, they'll be moving him downtown (Einstein for you locals) but that's relatively simple so here's hoping.....keep the good vibes coming, I can tell he's a little nervous. My dad is on a regular basis the way I am in political threads, so for him to be all meek and compliant, I know he's scared.
I said to someone else tonight....nothing can turn a relatively tough, competent professional woman into a scared little five year old faster than seeing her Daddy in a hospital bed.

Thanks all....talked to his nurse this morning, said it was a quiet night, no adverse stuff reported, which is good. He's gone down for the stress test, echo and ultrasound as of 8:00 which they said should take until about lunchtime. My mom isn't even going over til then. We should at least have the results of the stress test by late afternoon but I'm more concerned about the carotids because that's very common in his side of the family.
You guys are the best, thank you so much for your support, PMs, emails and phone calls. It's much appreciated all the time but especially at times like now.

Not much of an update but I guess little news is good news......my mom just called, the stress test results came back OK, although he did get really dizzy during it, his BP was still elevated despite the nitro patch he's had on since yesterday. No word on the echo yet and the preliminary scan of the carotids looked OK too. Docs are  at this point so they are keeping him again tonight on the monitors and said next step is an MRI if nothing changes. Despite the nitro patch, his BP is not coming down far enough, which is not good.

Well, he's home, I am talking to him now. They never did find anything negative to indicate the origin of the dizziness or chest pain, and he was OK when he left the hospital but he's telling me now he got dizzy again a little while ago. I'm betting he "forgot" to tell them he still wasn't feeling OK when they discharged him.  They did more bloodwork this morning and are still waiting for results. I still want them to do an MRI and I told the doctor that today when he called me. I still think it's something neurological and am really pissed that they didn't do ANY neuro workup whatsoever, despite the fact that he's had headshces AND dizziness. I think these people are idiots, personally, but at least he's home for now and he thought it was really nice that everyone here sent good wishes. Thanks!!!
