Fat policemen to lose jobs

Policemen in a Romanian town have been asked to lose weight if they want to keep their jobs.

Overweight officers from Buzau received their warning from their newly appointed boss.

Inspector Viorel Stefu said he decided to take this measure because his men "are usually outrun by more robust thieves."

The new regulation is aimed at encouraging policemen to do more physical exercise in order to be qualified to perform their duties.
