or at least what feels like a small accomplishment. Pennsylvania requires teachers to continue their education by earning 180 credits every 5 years. It's pretty easy to do if you attend all the inservices and take a class or 2.
All of the elementary music teachers in my district are hosting an elementary choral festival in 2 weeks. We needed to offer Act 48 credits to our attending teachers (from a large area that reaches up into Pittsburgh). If we didn't have the proper clearance to offer it and these teachers showed up without getting that credit, we would have been crucified. So I just got the word that we are approved, and teachers that attend will be receiving 5 hours of credit! Yippee!
I was starting to panic about this. it's an important aspect of our festival. we will be offering clinics to the teachers and students that will be here. We desperately needed to have the approval, but we were having trouble finding the correct offices to submit our info to.
now all I have to do is learn the music, because I'm the accompanist for the festival. oh, and rehearse my students who will be attending. 2 busy weeks coming right up!
