Because I don't feel like going to google tonight I will post this question here from Final Jeopardy. Tonight the answer to the question which was in the category of 3 A.D. It had to do with some guy claiming himself the winner of an election over another guy. (Sorry but the names were to strange to remember). What position did he claim.
The answer is below:
The answer is What is the antipope?
My question is, what is an antipope??
Thanks,

I don't know, Sue. Didn't seem like a good title when I saw it come up as her answer.
Hippolytus had himself elected antipope in 217 A.D. It was this date that eliminated (for me, at least) Emperor from the answer. I mean, the first Roman Emperor was Gaius Octavius (Octavian) - Julius Caesar's great-nephew. He ruled before and after the death of Jesus Christ so he definitely pre-dates 217 A.D./C.E.
I also had to dismiss "Emperor of Rome" because, well, it was such a small thing. An emperor was the head of the entire empire, hence, emperor. Calling yourself Emperor of Rome is akin to calling yourself the King of the Castle. Hey, if you're King, you're the main main in the entire kingdom, not just your castle!
It was one of the toughest Final Jeopardy answers in quite a while. Hey, when all three contestants miss - and badly so - the final answer, it's tough!
