Night swimming
Deserves a quiet night...
REM
Beautiful song, yah? Another that just seems to transcend beauty through music is One by U2. It's not the lyric that I love (but I do), it's the combination of message and music that is almost tactile when it's heard. Not shivers but a filling up inside of me. It's a difficult feeling to be articulate about. Do you know what I mean?

My old band did a cover of Nightswimming that we recorded at Smart Studios in Madison.
One of the best songs...evah!
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
turned around backwards so the windshield shows.
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse.

yes, it's the power of well-written words and music, same as a well-written poem. when words and music on a page evoke real feelings in the listener or reader then i'd say they nailed it down for ya.

I'd throw 'Anna Begins' by the Counting Crows as well...

I adore that song.
The photograph reflects,
every streetlight a reminder.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
That whole cd is incredible, maybe my favorite
Me, my thoughts are flower strewn
Ocean storm, bayberry moon.
I have got to leave to find my way.
Watch the road and memorize
This life that pass before my eyes.
Nothing is going my way.

Who else thought he was singing something else when he sang 'coming in to wake her'?

All affect me very deeply and in ways I can't articulate.
