Posted: 02/08/03 - 17:13 Post subject: Fall marathon(s) anyone???
Well it's looking less and less likely that I'll be running a marathon this spring. I decided against registering for Grandma's and madison is just approaching too quickly for me to get into decent marathon shape.
So I'm trying to look forward to the fall and was wondering who here is planning on running a fall marathon? If so which one?
It would be nice to hook up with a couple of you if at all possible. (Anybody planning on running the Twin Cities?)

I would love to if I'm ready......when's the sign up again, jrjo? There's a shorter race too, I think, a 10 miler, just in case?
It would be great to see you and CB again, Mega! We'll definitely have to plan some sort of fall event.

Of course it all depends on what I think about the marathon after Madison, but I would like to think I will run a fall one. I haven't made a decision but I am looking at the following.
Fox Cities - We have family up there and it would be a fun race to do
Twin Cities - Because I have heard so much great stuff about it
Lake front (milwaukee) - My FIL is running this for his BQ attempt.

I have TCM penciled on my calendar. I'd have no qualms about running the 10M if training fizzles this summer, but I'd like to gear up for 26.2. I really like the 10M last fall, it's a nice distance. But TCM is my Pr course, so I'm biased, I'd like to go for it again.

I'm flirting with the idea of running Columbus - It depends on how the summer goes.

Well, I am not up to marathon status this year, but I would like to do the Lakefront someday (Milwaukee). I am doing a hilly half in Wisconsin Dells in the fall this year, hopefully.

For anyone thinking about Twin Cities this fall... now's probably the time to start thinking hotel reservations. I know a few are already filling up. The TCM website lists some, which surprisingly aren't all the best deal out there. My choice is the Rivercentre Holiday Inn. It's about a half dozen blocks from the finish and less than that even to the expo. Also, signup for 26.2 starts May 1st and will fill in less than 2-weeks. 10-miler signup starts around July 1st. I give the TC10 a big thumbsup, I liked it a lot last year and will be there again in Oct!

No, silly...that's Arkansas!
Good thinking on the advance booking, jrjo!!! The more inexpensive hotels always fill up the fastest.

I just found out that I will be running the Marine Corps Marathon this October. I tried for it last year, but did not make the lottery. I am pumped!!

When is the Lake Front marathon? Does that run through Veteran's Park? That would be an awesome event.
