Posted: 08/02/04 - 12:23 Post subject: Fall Race Schedule
With the fall race season only a few months away, have you started thinking about the races you will run? What's your plan going into the fall?
10/30 Cajun Cup 10k
12/4 Baton Rouge Beach Half Marathon
I'm also looking for a certified 5k to run. I am not in the shape I want to be right now, and I've got a lot of work to do to reach my goals for 2004. So I'm going to put it all on the line with one race of each distance for which I established a goal (aside from the marathon, I'm putting it off until spring). I don't want to race back to back weekends, and I want at least 2 more months training before I race. So the 5k will probably be late December or mid-November. November 13th would be ideal for the 5k, but I don't know that I'll be able to find one that is certified. (All of my scheduled runs are/will be certified.)

My tri season ends Sep 12. Taking it easy after that. Maybe some low key races. January starts IMLP '05 training.

Nothing planned out yet after August, but i have ideas about what i want to do.
a 5k in september (possibly the Dave Huffman Memorial on Sept 11)
October depends on whether or not Sandy gets cast in Anything Goes. If she is cast, i'll try to find a 5 miler, if not (which means we still go to Disney), i'll do a 5k at the end of the month.
November: I want a 10k

In October, I'm running the Indy Marathon.
Considering the HUFF (50k)
Considering the JFK 50 miler
I am currently taking bribes (ahh, I mean suggestions) as to where else to race. I'm considering travelling to one around the Thanksgiving time.

note to self...this might be a better option than Dallas....
Trying to figure it all out, but in consideration currently are:
10/3 USA 10 miler
10/17 Luke's 20K
11/7 "The Half" Dallas? Maybe?
and/or
12/12 White Rock Half in the big D.

Yeah! It's a relatively small race... compared to White Rock anyway. Last year around 370 people ran the half and 100 ran the full. Mostly flat, just a few rolling hills. And you'd get to run through LSU's campus... you know you want to!
I may have found my 5k... Crescent City Fall Classic 5k (11/13 in New Orleans) . It's certified and it'll qualify me for a seeded spot in the Crescent City Classic 10k in the spring (15,000+ entrants).

Yep, got most of my races planned out for the fall...Quite a busy schedule:
Sept 11: Pinetree-SFU Classic XC (~6.5-7k)
Oct 2: South Fraser XC (8k)
Oct 17: Trail River Half Marathon
Nov 7: Surrey Classic 10k Road
Nov 21: Fall Classic Half Marathon
Dec 12: Pacific Road Runners 10k XC/trail
Then it's a 3-4 week break from structured training and then time to start building base again in January for my first marathon hopefully in late 2005.

Why do I always feel so inadequate compared to all of you and the races you schedule.

Between now and Thanskgiving, you could race every single weekend in Atlanta. Most weekends, you can pick from multiple RR's:

It's nice to have this many races to choose from (and in my opinion, races become somewhat addictive). But they can be an expensive habit to acquire.

I'm already training for 2005, so nothing else is specifically planned for this year. I might do a couple up coming race series events to make sure I win that, but I won't be doing any serious races the rest of this year.
