i have just spent the last HOUR on the desktop computer trying to downlod pictures and copy them into a powerpoint file to study with. an HOUR. i have no idea why it was so gosh darn slow, but its a really good thing i dont work on it all the time anymore.
it then took me another 20 to print and save the damn file.
then i fell down half the stairs when i went down for dinner.

I guess my advice is worthless .
Well, I hope your hand doesn't turn swell, turn purple, and leak puss. Have a nice night.

I was going to ask if it was swelling? But I realised I've never broken a bone in my life. I did have a mild dislocation of my wrist once - unfortunately (for you) that's as close as I can relate.
I'm guessing if it's swollen, it's a dislocation at worst. Please anyone - if you know better, let Froggie know!

How bad is the pain? Does it feel better with immobilization?

i think im ok. its just sore but its not swollen. its my left hand; i tried to catch the rail with my right hand, but never got a good grip and fell about 5 stairs, mostly on my bottom.
thanks for caring though!

DeQuervain's Syndrome, named for Swiss surgeon Fritz De Quervain who first identified it in 1885 (also known as "washerwoman's sprain"), is an inflammation of the sheath or tunnel that surrounds two tendons that control movement of the thumb. It is caused by the repetitive motion of the thumb constantly being required to move up and down (usually associated with using a computer keyboard or typewriter).
I got this when I was working on some branches. All I felt was a snap in my thumb and the pain was unreal.
Just a thought. Where you described your pain as being is exactly what mine sounded like. Not trying to be dramatic, although the graphic is cool.
