Looks like I'm going to Kentucky to oogle over Ty!
What a neat thing to do for another person!

WHEN: Early today, Ty Pennington and the rest of the �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� crew arrived on the doorstep of the Hassall family. His famous �Good Morning, Hassall Family� was heard through the bull horn and now a whirlwind of activities begin that will include more than 1,000 workers and volunteers. By next Thursday the family will return from a week�s vacation to see their brand new home.
WHO: The Hassall family. Officer Brian Hassall was shot in the line of duty �but despite that, he eventually returned to the force and works the night shift because he suffers from migraines triggered by daylight. The only place he can sleep is in their damp, dark basement. Michelle Hassall, battling a blood disorder and now lymphoma cancer, cannot be in the basement for any length of time because her fragile immune system cannot handle any further sickness.
Because of Michelle�s 20-year battle with a rare blood disorder, the Hassall�s were unable to have children of their own. They adopted a daughter, Alex, now an 8 year old, and Sam, a special needs 3 year old boy, born in China with a cleft palate. Unfortunately, due to the medical bills for Sam and Michelle and missed work because of treatment, the Hassall�s have maxed out their credit cards and taken a second mortgage on their home. There is nothing left to make their house fit for their family. |

I'll second second that! That was a lame response, with so much other crap on t.v getting high ratings, I have no problem with Home Makover going for high rating, when it actually means something!! Its better than something like the Bachelor goes to b.f.e. or skating with a washed up celebrity!!

I've got to agree with RB on this one. There are plenty of people who for their circumstances don't have the means or connections to buy a place of their own, let alone do a makeover of their home. Maybe their home in New Orleans was made uninhabitable by Katrina. Maybe it was destroyed by a tornado. What have you. And they don't have a child with special needs or a family member who did something brave and died or became incapable or providing for the family. What about them?
Extreme Makeover is this generation's equivalent of Queen For A Day. Society - government, religion, philanthropies, and so on - should be addressing this for those who need it. Period. I don't watch Extreme Makeover because it's going for the ratings by playing on human emotions and suffering.
