Posted: 06/07/06 - 14:57 Post subject: Explain to me how a "Christian" Loan...
Is different from a regular bank loan.
I just got this e mail. I always have to wonder why a business would use "Christian" as a part of their name. (I read of a "Better Business Bureau" for Christian businesses where the members pledge to deal honestly and all that. This is obviously not one of them.)
Do they think it makes them better ?
Are they trying to appeal to more gullible types ? "well, they say they're Christian so they must be dealing honestly"
Looking through the e mail I note there are about three different addresses for this company wit the REAL company being "Low Rate Source". If the were truly "Christian" they should be more open and above board.
"Low Rate Source" seems to be one of those companies that gives loans to "high risk" people. Maybe J1 can give us some more banking realted infor on this organization.
Here is the E mail:

To be fair,
I have seen "Christian" Financial Planning.
My church (Episcolpal Church) has done financial planning sessions to help folks manage their debt, spending, investments and church giving.
It was done for people who WANT to give to the church in a meaningful way that fits in with thier financial realities. Topics like "How to Tithe" and stuff like that.
But I have seen these spam messages talking about so-called "Christian Banks that are really just "regualar" banks trying to draw in a customer base.

Not talking about what your church has sponsored. BTW an excellent idea.
Its the companies that use the word "Christian" in their name so they can immediately appeal to people. What these honest and faithful people don't get is adding the word "Christian" to a company name does not immediately make it honest and trustworthy.

My guess is "Christian" gets through all the email spam filters out there.

Reminds me of businesses that somehow incorporate Christian icons in their ads. (crosses and the like)
Some of these businesses are not very honest. Odd.

If you didn't check it, Andy, notice their disclaimer:
| Quote: | | ChristianFamilyLoans.com disclaims any express affiliation of the Christian faith or institutions and lenders you match with are not selected based on any religious criteria. There is no obligation for submitting your information. |
(from the first link)
If they disclaim "any express affiliation of the Christian faith or institutions" why use Christian in your name? (the logo would preclude the possibilty that one of the people behind this has a last name of Christian) Also the "lenders you match with..." phrase is misleading as well as they would be required by law to not discriminate, no?
Yet the faith will be the one who gets beat up about it. Sad.

The company very likely bought a distribution list with one of the demographic criteria being "Christian". For some of those Christians, a business that identifies themselves as a Christian operation in its name may influence whether or not they choose them for their service. It's marketing.

That's my point - its a way to get your foot in the door. To break down any resistance by appealing to the most precious thing people have - their faith.
