How to choose a good energy drink for bikers? I usually drink water or Coke, because I get very thirsty, especially during a hot day, and only fizzy drinks can quench my thirst. But a friend recently told me that I should consider introducing some energy drinks in order to prevent exhaustion. The only energy drinks I know of are Red Bull and similar. Can I drink those?

since youre not a professional cyclist, you can drink whatever you like since there wont be doping tests for you. But generally speaking, Red Bull is not the kind of drink that is considered to be a food supplement for athletes. I suppose that it has certain energy boosters, but these energy drinks your friend talks about are mainly composed of minerals and vitamins. Cycling is a very demanding sport and you really should consider the choice of some energy drink seriously. You may be very exhausted after your trainings and your level of sugar, vitamins and minerals may be significantly reduced. As for the coke, dont use it during training.
