Its all the talk here in the Philly area

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7897870

Summary for those that missed it:

Nicollette Sheridan of the hit show "Desperate Housewives" in the locker room, wearing only a towel and provocatively asking Owens to skip the game for her. She drops the towel and jumps into the arms of Philadelphia Eagles star Terrell Owens. Sheridan was shown only from behind and above the waist after dropping the towel

It was real close to the line. With all of the ED commericals on I am not sure how I feel about it yet.

I really like the Eagles' indignation having seen the "final piece." They thought there was a tasteful way to include the footage of T.O being propositioned and jumped on by a naked woman?

I mean, for a team famous for choking, they sure expect us to swallow a lot.

:rimshot: Wink

The idea that anyone could have gotten offended by that is insane. There probably wouldn't have been as much uproar if it had been Jon Runyan and Nicole Sheridan. I'm sure some of the people who were incensed will say that the mere innuendo was the cause for their ire, when in reality they're using that excuse as a substitute for what really bothered them about it.

I wonder if they field (pun, no?) complaints about all of the commercials for dick stiffening (Viagra) products that are constantly peddled during football games. On Sunday too. Oh, those aren't suggestive Shocked . Christ, they say erection in the Cialas one!

And I love the "warning" they give in teh Cialis commercial. "Erections lasting longer than four hours might require a doctor visit."That alone has men scrambling to the phone to order the samples.

Howard Eskin was saying the same thing today, about the hypocrisy of the NFL

I think the whole thing is just ridiculous.

Ann Coulter is going on about it right now, and saying how Saving Private Ryan is okay to show because people can tell the difference between real and fake violence, but a naked back is a real naked back.

I, for one, would MUCH rather my children see a naked back (which is natural) even with suggested sex (which is natural) than someone having their head blown off.

I guess the (big) difference is that when you tune into a football game you don't expect to see Janet's breast or Teri Hatcher's naked back. When I tune into SPR, I have a pretty good expectation that I'm going to see a movie about WW2 with some (accurate & realistic) violence.

But the promo in question was the intro for Monday Night Football. If I tune in to watch the Monday night game and I get naked women, don't you think that is a bit excessive?

Well, we being the viewer, ABC, and whomever is in charge of MNF letting their players participate in that commercial.

Besides, we know ABC is going to advertise their programs and their hottest show right now is D.H. (well, that and Lost). If it is acceptable to air that show in primetime, it is equally acceptable to advertise for it in primetime. And while I haven't seen that ad, I doubt it is much worse than other commercials that have been broadcast

I don't understand why there's all this moral implication. So the network tried to cross the audience to a new show by tying it into another show and it flopped. What's the big deal?

and why not an outcry about the 'cheerleaders' by the same groups? i guess the evil hollyweirdos are easier targets than the NFL and ea individual team themselves...
