So I took the boy out again today, first time in about a month I think for me. He actually did quite well, I only grabbed the "oh sh*t" bar once. We went on the highway too for about 15 miles. I even let him go through the bank drive through to make a deposit.
He said I did well today too. He even thanked me for taking him out and letting him drive the Jeep. He can be such a nice boy sometimes. I love him today.

Um when you gonna teach him how to do donuts, burn-outs and power shifts? I taught my kids.... my theory was the little dirtbags are gonna do 'em anyways so they might as well learn how to do 'em without grenading a transmission or rearend.....

I'll leave that job to DH. That's his department. Good point.

My dad took me out to learn how to do donuts in the snow when I had my learners permit. His theory was that that way I'd learn how to handle one should the need arise. I'm sure he knows that I still delight in doing them in empty parking lots, every winter.

Welcome to my nightmare B. I'm thinking of getting a heartrate monitor just for driving with the boy. I swear I'm gonna have a stroke.

My dad did too, although I already knew how

I had to learn how to do donuts on my own.
I must say though,...for a self-taught donuter, I'm pretty dang good.

My driver's education instructor took us out and taught us the finer points of donut making. He had a nervous breakdown and retired that same year. Coincidental?

And for those of you in the audience with front-wheel drive cars... do them in REVERSE.

I actually mastered doing a 180 with a FWD in reverse on a country road. I did them several times in one day because I was driving back and forth on several roads looking for a cow. Never once ended up in a ditch (or even close to the ditch).
I went out and taught myself donuts when I got my truck. I figured if I ever got into a situation, I should know where the points are that the truck starts to slip, kick out to the side, or completly spin.
I also learned how to intentionally cause it to kick out to the side. Knowing how to do that has saved me from being T-boned at least once.
