but like Sahara, I've got the big 4-0 in a few months. I'm just not sure what's going to happen with that one! I'm not dreading it though. I'm in better shape now than I was at 30.

i'll tell ya what's gonna happen on that one------DEPENDS.
and probably reading glasses.

actually, i figure why dread the damn things, they're like the tide, coming in right on schedule. i've got two options: have them or don't. I've known too many friends who "don't" any more and i'm thinkin' they'd trade places with me any day (45 or not!!!!)

i can NOT believe i actually cried on my 30th birthday. i hope, against all hope, that my husband slapped me that day cuz i needed it...30??????? sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.

i cringed on my 40th. just a slight cringe, uneventful but cringe-ful.

All of 'em ...not big on my b-day.
I puposely keep real low key and get a warped enjoyment from getting few calls or gifts. A plain normal day would be fine with me.

30 was an all out embarrassment. I was working at a place that employed 1000 people and the main office was plastered with black streamers, balloons, confetti everywhere, and big black footprints taped to the floor from all directions leading to my desk. Aaack.

Considering the alternative, birthdays work out just fine for me. But even so, turning 36 last year was a little weird and I couldn't figure out why. It finally hit me that I'm closer to 50 than 20 now.

37 should be pretty smooth, and it's in 3 weeks.

30 was reallllly hard for me, and I think it was mainly because of where I was vs. where I was "supposed" to be, in my life, plus it was a few months before I was diagnosed with CFIDS so I was pretty sick. I was depressed and plastered for probably that whole weekend but the highlight was that my bestest friend threw me a big surprise party and there were a couple people there I hadn't seen in years! Where she dug them up I will never know....but that was cool.

I was always afraid of 40 but since I started running, I'm not. Bring it on.....in two more years Shocked

For some reason my upcoming birthday I am finding rawther scary.

It's the change from mid-decade to late-decade. The "late" makes it sound like it's almost over... slipping away...

When the odometer turns over and I am in an early-decade I will be ok again. Razz

31 was hard, in part, because I was "thirty-something".

Actually, the worst was 21. I was so afraid my then-boss would fire me because I had been tending bar under age and one of my big mouth friends let loose about it in front of him. Amazingly enough, he laughed and said he pretty much had guessed it (no wonder the place is closed now!). Shocked

No birthday has freaked me out yet, and I don't foresee me having any birthday issues. Maybe the prospect of crossing 40 still single is a little daunting but I have some time before that!
I love my birthday, its my favorite day of the year! I'm one of those annoying birthday-people. But, my birthday is EVERYONE's party! Dancing Banana

21 was rough. I was scared my friends would tie me up and force me to drink a beer. Just kidding about that. My friends didn't do anything with me on my 21st.

My 22nd was a blast. I was in Haiti at the time and didn't let it slip to the rest of the group until 9pm the night before. They still managed to put together a birthday card a few other things. I still have them and that was 7 months ago!

As for one I'm dreading, my last.
