my 15 yo has been asking for these shoes for years now and mean mom has always said "NO WAY". i have never seen them for less than $115 and his foot is growing and i don't care who has them---blah blah blah.

all the while, wanting to buy him every style in every color because he puts up with such crap every single day of his young life. He lives with and manages his diabetes with nothing but integrity and a maturity way way beyond his years. As a parent, i want to give him the moon for that.

TODAY---i found the Dr. Martens at AmericanOutfitters on sale for $75!! Plus, they took an additional 10% off for valentines day Plus -- the young man who waited on me asked for my name and phone number before i left ( OK, they are having a drawing later today)

needless to say, i bought him the shoes. he better wear them or i will.

it has always been hard for me to draw the line for this child--racked with guilt and sadness at times over his lifestyle--i want to give him everything i can but i know i shouldn't. still, it is hard. really.

I bet your son estatic! Sometimes you just have to do things like that. I broke down and bought my son a really good snow board..end of season clearance...seeing his face was all worth it.

a) You're a good Mommy RR.

b) Are they size 13? If they are, I'll take them when he outgrows them.

c) Any tips on how I can convince my wife I'm a swell husband and that I deserve a new bike?
