I do my basic road running, and I am stuck out in the country at this moment for work. So its one road and it has lots of long hills for 10-15 miles. But the shin splints kick in whenever going down hill. Any alternatives when going down hill? I am a beginner at this, but I really need to improve on my enderance and speed at the same.
Thanks

My only advice is to try and shorten your stride on downhills.

this may sound weird, and it will be very akward if you do it, but you could try going down hills backwards. obviously people almost never run backwards, but you might have found that walking down hills backwards when you're sore is easier than walking down hills forwards. so running down them backwards is the same. except for the part that running backwards is kinda weird....
