ever get an unbalanced load, and make a very loud banging noise, scaring the b'jabbers out of you?

Yes it does! Our neighbor just fixed that problem by adjusting the feet on the bottom of the machine. See if you can do that and tighten them up. Problem solved.

The worst is when it's a single big heavy rug, and it gets spun all to one side. It starts banging so hard that the washer is in danger of falling over or is actually slowly moving across the floor.

Don't you just hate it when your appliances hit those rebellious "teen" years?

Never knew you're supposed to balance it but I do know that you can get into serious trouble if you don't balance a centrifuge...

Yes...it's has a few rust spots, and the agitator(spinny thing in the middle) is wobbly, but it's still going!

My last washer used to do that. For a couple weeks, I thought that my former roommate was messing with me (we used to play all kinds of pranks on each other) because I'd go to the basement where the washer was and it would be in the middle of the floor, unplugged, and still with some water in it. (The thing was so "agitated" that the cord/plug would get yanked out of the wall!).
It's funny now. It's not so funny when your favorite blankets are in the washer, still wet, in the middle of winter, and you have mono and just want to jump into a warm, dry bed.
