I have just about had it with rude kids and rude people in general.
6th graders will be heading to Jr. High in the fall, so they are scheduling their classes now. If they want to be in chorus, they need my signature. I just had a girl walk in here and tell me "You have to sign this." Excuse me? She never did catch on, and I finally asked the 3rd graders in the room what she needed to ask. They reminded her to say "Please sign this."

Emotional Support students in this building have to have a behavior slip filled out and signed by teachers outside of their "special" classroom when they go out for those classes. They usually walk in late and shove it in my face, eventhough the standard procedure is to put it on top of the piano. If I forget to sign the slip, they bring it to me and shove it in my face again, but never "ask" me to do anything. Very often, they don't even say a word to me, just sorta grunt......

yeah, I just had a kid throw a stick at my back

(I was pitcher during a whiffle ball game)

he hit me in the back, and I had him sit out the rest of the game.

He's mad at me. Because I made him sit out.

dunno

Last I checked, it was a parent's responsibility to teach their children manners.

In the past few years I've read a lot of feature stories in the local papers about "manners classes" being taught in some of the communities around here. I think most of them are of the "how to eat in a fancy restaurant" kind of manners, but I think some are of the "this is how we function in a civilized society" type.

Very few do. Parents who do teach their kids manners these days are viewed as "too strict".

By the majority of parents who don't bother teaching manners.

So it's the parents' fault because they don't teach manners because they fear they'll be considered strict. Wiggedy whack, not just regular type.

Actually I think they don't bother teaching manners because they are too frickin' lazy and so many have the "my kid will do no wrong" attitude.

funny/boring (you pick) little Poky story...

When little Poky was about 2.5 I was trying to teach her to say pardon me
instead of huh so one day I corrected her and she says Pardon me Huh!

Now none of us have any manners. We all say Pardon Me Huh! Mr. Green

Those are the same parents that feel too "guilty" to tell their kids NO.

I am already teaching Hayden manners and will continue to do so (not that he gets it yet, but hey why not start with him before he knows the difference). I think manners are so important. I was raised by a mother that was very strict about good manners and I'm so thankful for that, and I hope my kids will be thankful someday that we will raise them that way, too.
