Posted: 08/07/03 - 09:57 Post subject: Doctor Visit Results part deux
Still, doc can find nothing wrong with me. 97% of all physical maladies ruled out. Last night found out what we already knew from the first CBC - no HIV, lyme disease, CMV, EBV. Before we go to The Big Stuff (which, as I suspected, will target specific neurological/chemical patterns), he's referring me to a specialist to see if I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which apparently is not as bullsh!t a disease as I thought.
When I said my sleeping patterns are off, but I'm not tired all the time so I didn't seem to fit the profile, Doc said my ADHD's hyperactivity might be counteracting it, and causing my energy level crashes and spikes as well as my sugar hypersensitivity (not enough = supah tired; too much = like a 3YO hopped up on crystal meth). Interesting theory. After that specialist visit, more bloodwork with Doc 1.
Good news: "You know, Lauri, for someone who could stand to lose a few pounds you are literally in perfect health. Off the charts perfect."
Bad news: "So I can see why this is so frustrating to you. It is to me. Baffling. I still can offer you no insight on your strange, periodic dehydration problems."

Sorry you haven't found out anything conclusive yet. If you have Chronic Fatigue, it's nothing to sneeze at. I hope you get answers soon.

I hope you find answers soon! I can bet this is really frustrating. Good luck!
And CFS apparently is very serious.

CFS is very serious and very real. I had a buddy suffer from it for a long time until he passed away from something else.

Ditto on CFS being very serious. Although I am kind of surprised that you didn't test positive for Epstein-Barr if that's what it is...
(I've had some severe bouts with stomach issues, exhaustion, dehydration along with other stuff because of EBV/mono-type virus. If you want to pm me feel free. I think I am not alone in this...)

You aren't, by any means. I hope this isn't what it is but like Kristin, I'm surprised that your EBV antibodies were not elevated, although there are other blood levels that they look for, specific immunoglobulins that will show high numbers if you are. Are you going to an immunologist?
I hope that isn't what it is, but if it is.....you're not alone and I've done tons of research on it myself. Fingers crossed.....
