who's depressed? Especially if they're depressed and WON'T go to a doctor to find out if there's something that can help them?

I don't know anyone right now but I have known someone before. It's hard because you want to just kick them in the butt and tell them to get to the doctor but that might just send them in another tailspin of depression.
Depression is a disease, though. It has to be treated.

Yes, someone in my family. I think she is a manic-depressive, but she refuses to accept it. It's very tough to watch and not be able to do anything about it.

Yeah, me for a long while, a girlfriend now.
Of course, turns out what was making me depressed was my old life. I've not taken any meds since we moved, and I feel fine. I think gf needs the same thing, a new life sans hubby. Sad.

Fo shizzle I do. But what would a doctor do? Prescribe medication? I don't think drugs are the answer, and I think there would be something wrong if I was in this situation and WASN'T pissed off and depressed. I don't think it's a biological thing, it's a product of the environment. In my case anyway.

My Gramdma battles depression off and on since my Grandpa died 3 years ago. She was given medication for it but stopped taking it after 2 days cuz she said it was giving her side effects.

Although I've never been diagnosed, I woulnd't be surprised in the least if I did go to a Dr. and he told me I suffer from depression. Before I ran, it was worse. Right now, running and cycling do a pretty good job of keeping it in check.
I think one of the reasons I don't really like vacations is that running and riding become infrequent and the depression creeps back in.
