lots of money is wasted by people trying to create the hoax, prove it either is not or is true. I think people see what they want to see. I have learned that the mind is very powerful and sees whatever it wants.
call me a big time skeptic but I just think some of this stuff is fully explainable. |
Ok. Not to turn this into a religion thread, but you believe that because of some miracle a virgin can bear a child, but you don't believe in other unexplainable phenomenon? Whassup wid dat? |
None of the others are atttributed to God. |
Ok, so if it doesn't fall within your belief system it doesn't exist. I get it.

scientists for years try to disprove miracles associated to God for the same reason. Others do not believe in the listed stuff for a variety of reasons. I just made mine public.

Careful now... faith is exactly what it's all about when it comes to intangibles and whether you believe it's fact or fiction.
Let's keep the rollies aside when it comes to someone's religion, kay?

Yeah, so? Isn't that kind of the basis for opinions in general? You take what you believe in and apply it to a situation? I believe in science. When I apply it to the stuff on that list, I find most of it to be a crock. It does not fall within my belief system either. Different system, but more acceptable for some reason.

You're right jrjo, the similey was uncalled for. My apologies, Joe.
Anr RLAG, you say MOST of it. You allow for the idea that some of it might be genuine. All I was tying to say was that Christianity is BASED on some of the things that he is saying don't exist.

I'll tell ya what I believe in:
I believe in the soul, the c___, the p____, high fiber, good Scotch. I believe that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

Here are my thoughts...
Big foot/Yeti/Sasquatch?
The fact the haven't caught one, or found the remains of one (we can reconstuct dinosaurs for crying out loud)...pretty much leads me to believe this is not real.
The Loch Ness Monster?
Again, no evidence. Just people "seeing something". It could be there, but something that big would leave....evidence behind. I mean it can't just dissappear.
UFO's?
UFO's could be aliens from outer space. But I don't think so. First off, again....no evidence whatsoever...none...and don't buy into the government conspiracy thing....there is more than one government on this planet, and few of them agree about anything, how are they all going to suppress UFO evidence? And if you think America is the only nation who has evidence to suppress, think how arrogant that is. The fact is there is no evidence. Not even a good photograph. We can get pictures of a "nip slip" of Britney Spears, or a "peekaboo" skirt moment from J-Lo, but we can't get a single good photo of a UFO.
Alien Abductions?
I have no idea what happened to these people, but I hardly think that beings with the capabilities to fly across the universe, are going to come here, grab people in their sleep, put things up their asses, and wipe their memories. Sorry, just doesn't seem like that's what they would do.
Ghosts?
I haven't seen any. Every person I've ever heard claim to see one, was either drunk, high, it was the middle of the night and they just "woke up". Why don't ghosts appear at noon to sober people in a crowded room?
Reincarnation?
I'm not arrogant enough to believe that I lived more than once. What the hell? The creator gives you a shot, take it.
ESP?
You already know my thoughts on this.
Telekinesis?
Doesn't seem possible....saw the "tricks of the psychics" show a couple of years ago. But, I won't say it's crap....just not likely.
Atlantis?
NO. Atlantis was not real. I think Plato (or was it Aristotle) was high when he wrote about Atlantis.
Werewolves?
Not real. like was said, an urban legend.
Vampires?
again, another Urban legend....Vlad the Impaler (he was one sick pup, I'll give him that.)
The Bermuda Triangle?
Methane gas! Funny we don't have cars and trucks dissappearing near all the cattle farms and ranches around here.

To you and I, yeah. But not to people that believe in the God portrayed in the bible. It's all a matter of perspective. That's all.

I don't believe any of it, except sort of maybe the UFO part. I don't believe UFOs have been to our planet, at least I don't think there is real evidence that they have. But by saying I don't think they've been here, that doesn't mean I don't think there is life out there somewhere.

Big foot/Yeti/Sasquatch? Not so much.
The Loch Ness Monster? Not so much. Lake Champlain, however, is a murky, scary place. Maybe Champ does exist...
UFO's? Yeah. Highly improbable that we are the only intelligent beings in the universe. It's a big universe.
Alien Abductions? If someone even remotely credible came forward saying they were abducted by aliens, then maybe. But until then, I will go on dismissing Billy Bob's claims that he and his sister/wife got beamed up.
Ghosts? Tricks of the mind. I believe people see things, I just don't believe they are what they think they are.
Reincarnation? Sort of. I believe in the evolution of the soul. I think there truely are old souls and new ones - just look at the people you know. Although, perhaps I just use that theory to excuse people's actions.
ESP? Not in the traditional sense. I think some people are just more intuitive and observant than others. Humans are easy to read if you pay attention.
Telekinesis? Not so much.
Atlantis? Not so much.
Werewolves? Urban legend.
Vampires? Urban legend.
The Bermuda Triangle? GAS!
Interesting website.
