Well, when I was single it was paper and plastic...and I am not kidding. Kudos to you for even owning things that need to be washed.

There was a nice lag time between when I left for college and got married. In the time inbetween I forgot how a dishwasher worked.

By hand. And dreaming of the day when the kitchen gets completely re-done and a dishwasher goes in. :sigh: So, I'm with jrjo and ShannonG on the everything goes into it.

The Mrs. and I have an absolutely awesome dishwasher. Everything we can fit into it goes in.

I take my dish configuration very seriously, since I don't want to wash anything by hand that I don't have to.
