LIFE as you know it will be changed. how many hours will your TiVo record? We have the Direct TV with DVR with 100 hours.  we've come close to filling it all. the nice thing is that on a rainy day, it's so easy to catch up on your missed TV.

You'll love it!
We JUST got rid of cable and dvr (tivo equivalent). This is our very first evening without them. And it's Gilmore Girls night.  But, it's too expensive and very unnecessary. Fun, but unnecessary.
