I saved up and bought Mr Aire a digital camera last year for his birthday. Well, it got dropped at the zoo and died a horrific death.
Can you guys advise as I am going to buy him another this month? Anything I should avoid? Anything you guys really recommend?
Thanks!

Ang,
The May 2003 Consumer Reports has a good review of digital cameras, as does the May issue of Computer Shopper ( : I have no idea where this mag came from or why Delta got it).
What did you have before? A point-and-shoot? How many mega-pixels? What price range? It you give me a little more info, I can tell what these two magazines say are "good buys".
If you're in to shopping for it yourself, the important features to look at are optical zoom (digital zoom is an electronic trick), battery type and how many shots per charge/battery, time between shots or next shot delay, the reach of the flash and/or if the camera has the ability to simulate higher-speed film for shooting indoors without a flash.

I don't remember what we had last time, but we loved it.
(That's helpful, huh?)
I do remember loving the fact that it used double a batteries, but didn't run through them really fast.
What does it say about the Nikon Coolpix 2100 vs.
the Canon powershot 2.0(a60) vs.
Sony Cyber Shot (DSC p32)
Anyone else have one of these?

Ang,
I just did a quick look and neither mag has those models (typical!), but it does have info on model #'s similar to the ones you mentioned. I'm heading out the door right now, but I don't mind putting some info together for you, if you don't mind waiting until later today to get it.
I'll PM it to you when I get it together.

Thanks! I'm not in a hurry, and would rather wait for solid info, rather than buying the first thing I see.
BTW, that's very sweet of you! Thanks!

We have a Nikon coolpix 2500. I'm pretty happy with it, it does a ton of stuff! It was a little pricy, sometime I think I could have gotten away with a less expensive one but It's also the first one I've owned so I really can't compare it to another.

I have an Olympus C3000 (I think that's the model) and love it. I'd give it a big thumbs up!
