I have no clue what to get her from myself or from the kids this year.
She needs a new necklace but that would blow almost the entire budget that we agreed upon for each other.
Any ideas!!

Does she have any special interests or hobbies? That would help.

Unfortunately no, unless you count collecting snowmen. I guess I will have to wander the mall on Friday night after work to see what I can come up with

Does she like pampery spa type stuff: manicures, facials, etc? If there's a salon nearby maybe get her a spa day or whatever's in your budget, or a gift certificate for a massage, something like that, and then some little things. That's something just for her that she doesn't have to share with anyone else and she can use it when she most needs it!
I forget, does she work outside the home or is she a SAHM??

You can never go wrong with a gift that has a cord. If you're on a tight budget, get her a toaster. But, if your Christmas bonus from work was sweet this year, maybe a microwave AND a vacuum cleaner.

How about a new fleece jacket. Or a nice new blanket.

Do not listen to PH. Then you'll be getting a divorce for Christmas.
Your TV just died: if she's a techie like me go plasma Plasma PLASMA! With surround sound!
But if not .... My initial reaction was diamonds (I know, ). But jewelry is always good. You could get a necklace from you, and then a matching bracelet or earrings from the kids. I'd try any of the following (I've bought stuff at these places and have never been disappointed:
- ice.com
- RedEnvelope.com
- Tiffany's: believe it or not, you can get some pretty affordable things there, and what woman doesn't welcome that signature turquoise box??? I'd recommend the Paloma Picasso Loving Heart pendant & earring set (hell, I want it myself!).
- Novica (enter code NOVICA243 and get $10 off as well!) This outfit partners with National Geographic to give artisans in out of the way places a fair market to sell their handmade items - the jewelry is unique, made just for you, and quite beautiful.
Bonus: you don't even have to go to the store! Most of these places are offering free shipping, too.

Here are some ideas of things that I would like (I have simple pleasures)...
1. Subscription to Hooked on the Outdoors magazine
2. Music... CD's.. my incomplete list includes Patti Griffin, Fountains of Wayne, Los Lonely Boys, something bluesy but I'm not that knowledgeable enough to know what
3. Membership in our Independent Public Radio station. What about becomeing a PBS member? Does she watch that?
4. Socks, really
5. Manicure gift card AND an appointment with childcare pre-arranged.
6. Wall mounted candle holders. Does she have a decorating style that you can contribute towards? What about candles for the bathroom?
7. Clothes. I want something casual funky.
8. A tree for the yard, really. I would love a gift certificate for the local nursery to pick out something out that I wouldn't normally buy myself... like all four different varieties of lilacs that they had this past year.
That's all that comes to mind right now.

What about a gift certificate for a night at a nice hotel nearby?
Or a gift certificate to Bath and Body and one for Barnes and Noble so she can spend a day away by herself?

The new TV is why we are really limiting the budget but I can't afford one of those, I am leaning towards a 25 inch which is what we have now in the den. Anything bigger and it won't fit in my entertainment center unless I pull out the shelf above the TV and move all my electronics around...
Say that might be a good idea
I did like the idea of the necklace and earrings set. I will do some researching on that one

not sure if there's time to mail order but Philosophy (skin care and bath stuff) makes a great product called Amazing Grace....
you can find it on QVC.com. i'd get her the travel sample kit -- 4 different products in the AG line.

I like all of these ideas. My idea? Forget budget. If you can afford to buy her what you want, then do it. Then say it was on sale, huge discount.
