Posted: 04/01/06 - 09:19 Post subject: Dear Riff Raff help desk, I have computer issues
My computer (my nice fairly new almost always cooperative desk top, NOT ghetto laptop whose issues know no limits) has been acting funky. Takes forever to figure out how to shut down, doesn't really like loading new programs (iTunes a while ago, this week the non-critical fun little game called Turbo Tax ) requires a reboot frustratingly more often than I think it should and currently the taskbar, which I can see, shows no programs running. However I have 5 things open, all of which I can see in Task manager. Stupid thing, but its annoying not being able to click between windows.
A) Right now, how do I fix the taskbar thing?
B) What all can I run on my computer (after I get my papers finished, provided it allows me to finish papers) to clear out whatever problems may have cropped up? Spyware....then what?

always run spyware first

i use AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Spyware Blaster to keep adware and spyware off of my machine.
also, i would do a virus scan. AVG Free is a nice free anti-virus program.
all of these can be downloaded at download.com.
hope this helps.

Smartest thing I've done on my home PC (not a laptop) is go with Firefox as my browser. It seems to keep all the caca at bay.
I also use Adaware and AVG Free to help keep things cleaned up.

As a last resort, you can do a system restore back to a date you know you didn't have a problem

I did 3 virus scans. Nothing.
The system restore worked. I don't know what happened.
