That brings yet another issue... Is e-mail acceptable form of contact? I would think yes (for our younger generation). But many folks think that its considered tacky.

No. Nine years is not a big age difference (I'm marrying someone 8 years older than I am in a month, and while I was put off by the age difference a bit at first because I had been dating younger guys, it really doesn't matter.) It's all about your attitude on life, anyway.

Actually its kind of iffy with different email policies out there. But if you are choosing between email or her work phone, I think email is preferred. Be sure to make it brief and you might ask "Is it okay if I email you here?" and she can let you know if its a problem or to call her cell phone, etc. Just a quick "Hey it was great to meet you the other night, do you have lunch plans next Tuesday" would work

I'm wasn't really concerned about corporate email policies, etc. I was wondering how it might be perceived by the other party if someone is "asked out" via email. Even if it is an innocent as "Hey it was great to meet you the other night, do you have lunch plans next Tuesday." Some women might think its OK, but I imagine many folks come from the more traditional school of thought and think this is tacky?

I agree. First contact via e-mail is perfectly ok. All's fair in love and war...
Besides, if she's interested in you, it's not going to matter. She's going to be interested in you if you carve your message in a piece of tree bark and deliver it by Carrier Pigeon. If' she's not interested, it won't matter if you send a 24k gold invitation.

Sweetie, you are putting wayyyyy too much pressure on yourself to be "perfect" here. If she's all that, she's not gonna get all pissy pissy about HOW you contacted her, really. If she's that high maintenance and judgmental, you don't want her. Do whatever you think is most comfortable for you and see what happens. Honestly.....someone who's gonna make a big deal about you emailing instead of calling them is only gonna make a big deal about everything else too.
Do it this way.....email her with the it was great meeting you bit and ask if she's free for lunch or ask if you can call her and see if she's free, something like that. This way, if you're worried about rejection, at least you won't have to listen to it, you know?
Relax......who wouldn't want to go out with you?
