I keep hearing about some fantasy speed achieved on a bike. Some of my friends boast with high numbers. I don’t believe them but cannot argue since I don’t know the exact figures. I would like to show them that they are talking nonsense. Can you tell me how fast can bicycle run on flat ground?

Some guys were busy breaking the records in speed. Current world record is 130.36 km/h over 200 meters. The averaged speed has been measured from a run on flat ground. This is pretty fast, but short. Another one managed to keep the speed of 85.99 km/h for one hour. Pretty impressive, isn’t it? And this was achieved by the power of their legs alone. The famous guys in Tour De France managed to achieve 95-103 km/h but only on the steepest descents. On the other hand Ondřej Sosenka holds the one hour record on a current U.C.I bike (it is pro’s road bike) of 49.7 km/h.
