I'm trying to get rid of some of the food in my fridge because I will be out of town all next week. I also had a pasta craving but because I'm breastfeeding I have to keep tomato comsumption to a minimum (it give Olivia the reddest and sorest rump). I grabbed some green onions, mushrooms, one Roma tomato, and bacon. I crisped up the bacon, drained the fat, sauteed the scallions, mushrooms and tomato in a skillet until the mushrooms were tender. Then I added just a touch of light cream (to help ev erything really stick to the pasta) and threw the crumbled bacon back in. Mixed it with the cooked noodles and...yummyyyyyy!!!!! I even sprinkled on a little bit of pecorino romano cheese for a nice touch. It's really good!!
Any of your experiments you would like to share?

Sounds EXCELLENT! I eat pasta all the time so I'll be sure to try it.
I eat a lot of rice and One night I had steamed some veggies with my rice and wanted an asian flavor to go with it so I mixed a little sauce together of a little oil, soy sauce, ginger, rice vinegar and some garlic and it was very tasty if I do say so. I didn't measure it and each time I try to duplicate it I have to sort of play around with the proportions until it tastes right but its a nice sauce for veggies and rice.

That sounds good!!!
It's fun to be creative with food.
I tried leftover frozen crabmeat and corn on the cob, mixed with half-used poblano peppers and a jalapeno, some tomatillo salsa, and chihuaha cheese stuffed into torillas and baked like a casserole.
Trader Joes has these awesome hormone and antibiotic free chicken breasts that are frozen and look like crap in the bag but cook up well with very good flavor. We've always got those; I have stuffed them with leftover chile relenos and mushrooms and pan-seared then baked; tossed them with pasta and corn and peppers and tomatoes and parmiggiano reggiano; put them in sort of a stew with leftover veggies and chicken broth.
I love playing with leftover food (well, any food, for that matter). For some reason, however, making a totally new and delicious creation from leftovers gives me a real sense of accomplishment (along with a sink of dirty dishes).
OOOH..one more...leftover homemade veggie burgers (from the infamous Chef Al recipe) that we forgot to freeze, stuffed into tortillas with carrots, mushrooms, and cheese and topped with more tomatillo salsa and baked.
