I was among some people here who was not invited to the reception, which is Saturday.
1) Suck it up and get a nice gift anyway.
2) Send a card but no gift.
3) Send nothing.
4) Give a nicer than average Christmas gift instead.
OK, Emily Posters, sound off.

Well, how close are you to this person? (I'm guessing not all that?) Depending on the circumstances, I would either just send a card or a card and a small gift.

I say a card, EL.
Nothing says 'F.U.' better than the 'Clapper'...

Let me add some additional factoids I omitted. I more or less report to this person. He has a couple dozen charges, most of whom are quite a bit younger than I am (as is he).
The guest list appears to be, shall we say, generational.

Well, unfortunately, that puts more of a political spin on it. Or maybe not. It would here; I don't know how your political your office environment is.

Buy some play-doh and sculpt his head. Chia-boss, baby.
You want to extend yourself but not overdo it. You know him the best. Do you think he's expecting a gift from everyone?
