Posted: 06/25/03 - 22:15 Post subject: Course Registration for 03/04 academic year
I just registered for my fall and winter 03/04 3rd year courses this morning on the web. Has anyone else in college or going to college this September finalized on course selection and schedules or registered?
Mine's a somewhat heavy schedule with 6 courses per term rather than the 5 I'm used to since I signed up for Honors Biology (genetics). I'm not too sure what I'm getting myself into this September. Hopefully I'm won't drive myself crazy with the workload! Here it is:
Fall Term (Sept-Nov 29)
Cell Physiology (both terms)
Molecular Biochemistry (both terms)
Basic Genetics
Classical Studies: Greek and Latin terms of medicine and biological science (Arts elective)
Asian Studies: A History of Ancient China (Arts elective)
Principles and Methodology of Biological Research
Winter Term (Jan-April)
Cell Physiology (both terms)
Molecular Biochemistry (both terms)
Molecular Genetics
Plant Physiology 2-Plant growth and development
Intro Medical Microbiology and Immunology
Biostatistics

speaking of music classes, I'm still taking piano lessons hoping to finish by the end of August. I'm taking my grade 10 practical exam on August 23 and I'm not looking forward to it b/c I'm cramming for it right now

I haven't registered yet but I know what I am taking:
Fall:
Counseling Techniques I
Legal and Ethical Issues
Research Design & Methodology (biting the bullet and taking three this term--I work full time so that's about my limit )
Spring: I am hoping to start my year long field placement
Counseling Techniques II
Practicum class that goes with placement
Foundations of Addiction
Should be a busy year....

I think registration is next week. I'm taking a full load but I'm hoping for a cake walk. (Minus the A&P) its all lower division classes that my version from my first undergrad experience doesn't carry in Texas or I just didn't have to take for a business degree in Kentucky. With any luck a couple deans from UK will come through for me on some information that will allow me to opt out of a few of these.
Fall:
History 1
Psychology: Human growth and development--lifespan (G--want to tutor? )
Government 1
Anatomy and Physiology 2
Sociology 1
Spring:
Microbiology
History 2
Government of Texas why oh why wasn't this required in KY?
Philosophy 1

I only know through 12/03:
At the main school:
06/30-08/08: Methods in Business Education
08/25-12/16: Educational Psych
At the community college (prereqs, 1/4 the price), 09/02-12/06: Intermediate Accounting I
Intermediate Algebra
Luckily all are paid for save books. I also have to take Intro to Word Processing (despite having taught it for TEN YEARS) but I'll test out of it. So that will be five down, twelve to go + student teaching.

That one will be the death of you. Any class that talks about the methodology of research is boring. At least the ones I went through.

What??? You didn't take TX Gov't at our beloved KY? How ever did you graduate? For that, I am stripping you of most of your alumni benefits. You can only claim the football team, and mens gymnastics.
Check again with your advisor. I may be wrong, and often am, but I thought Legislature did away with that stupid requirement if you already had a degree. Of course, this was right after I sat through a semester full of 18 year old whinny, confused freshmen who only said brilliant things like..."you didn't give us a review for the exam" or "why did you put things from the text on the exam. I didn't read it."
If you have to take it...enjoy.

Not from what I've found....thus I'm having to take a lot of crap. All schools I'm looking at list it as requirement for those getting a second bachelors degree, unless you had taken it before. Go figure--I didn't!
Additionally, I took one 36 hour 4 semester course that took care of most of my general education courses at UK (like Psych, soci, history, etc) and while UK accepted it and it helped me out a ton there, Texas isn't going to appreciate it much. I have one of my old professors and a Dean at UK working on some stuff to argue my point on a few classes and I also need to talk to a few different advisors here but I'm pretty sure the result is going to be me having to retake them, so in the meantime I'm sucking it up and taking them all. And yes there are plenty o' whiny 18 year olds who want a study guide...My high school was harder than that crap... But anyway, I figure I can probably use the refresher (who the heck was Sam Houston anyway? ) and I might get As this time, which can't hurt when applying for upper division!
