Posted: 10/16/02 - 18:23 Post subject: Cool Thing Happened to Me Today
I work in the accounting department of an architectural/engineering/interior design firm. About a month ago I was appointed to the Professional Development Committee, which itself is an honor b/c its by invitation only and I was the first non A/E/ID, to ever be appointed to the committee. I was selected to be the Vice Chairman of the committee. The company has been downsizing and the chairman was downsized, so that left the chair open, which is normally led by one of the Engineers. The Head of Architecture, approached my boss late today and asked her how she thought I would do at running the committee. My boss gave me a big and I am going to be meeting with the CEO in the next few days to discuss my appointment. Will be the first time in the firm's 40+ year history that a non technical person will be running one the Development Committee.
I am psyched, should be a challenge but an opportunity to learn some more about the organization.

The PDC, coordinates and plan continuing education for the architechts and engineers so they can keep up their licenses. We also, plan fubby after work event's each month. Sometimes it involves field trips to clients in which to review projects we are currently working on, other times its a lunch time presentation.
Should give me some more exposure to other parts of the organization, as most of my day is stuck in the accounting offices.

Congratulations!
I'm sure you will do a great job.
Just make sure you get your TPS reports in on time.

If TPS stands for "Totally Phat Sex", then yes, I am.
