Now that I think about it, there are two parks with running/cycling trails within a few miles of me. I never use them though. I'm kind of partial to the asphalt that starts at the end of my driveway.

One of the parks has a pretty rugged cross country trail from what I hear.

Colorado Springs was rated the 3rd best running city in America. There are trails everywhere. All of the neighborhoods have trails built into them that lead to the bigger trails. We also have a ton of parks, many have mileage posted for the loops that you can run within the park.

You can click on this map to zoom in on different trails.

As for home, I'm near a few trails and have some great loops that I can run on sidewalks without crossing major streets (4.4, 3.5, 2.6, 2.1 and 1 mile loops). I am also 7/10 of a mile from a junior high track that is rarely used by anyone else.

At work, there is a very quiet residential neighborhood at the end of our parking lot that has a nice 2 mile outer loop and includes a 6.5 mile course inside the loop. I am also very close to the Sante Fe trail.

They also have 4 different racing series during the year. 2 local marathons. And many, many, many 5 and 10 k races year round. We also have 3 different running stores to select from.

Life is good.

I have the ocean 3 miles from home and 1/2 mile from the Y I go to. And the Blue Hills 5 minutes for great trail running and hiking.

The streets in my neighborhood and surrounding area are great. I can do flats or hills whenever I feel like it. I also have a brand spanking new private high school track 1 mile from home. But I don't use it too often. I go to my friends for track night and we run at Tufts college.

two high school tracks within 2 miles of my house.
a nice fitness track .5 miles from my house (.375 of a mile)

Treadmill 13 steps down Wink

Great wildlife refuge 4 miles from my house. Miles and miles of trails.
My new house has so many main roads I can make up literally hundreds of courses.
