Forgive the curious beancounter, but when all is said and done, what do you figure is your bottomline spent on holiday gifts? Are you a "Christmas Club" savings account type or do you squeeze the last few paychecks of the year?

We only buy for the kids, and I spent just about $200 on all 3. Hubby and I are not exchanging gifts this year, so that helps with the $$.

I used to spend a lot, and buy the kids a ton of stuff. Now they get 3 gifts from us, and 1 each from Santa, and then maybe a couple collective things from Santa (games). I try to have it done by Will's birthday (11/29) and accomplished it this year. They're wrapped and ready to go too.

Am I supposed to count the treadmill I'll get as a 'gift' (even though it isn't)? That's gonna skew the total quite a bit.

Looks like an automatic entry into the "Santa" category. The economy thanks you and Mrs Hayes thumbs up

Now that i have a gf, i spend a bit more on presents. I get her quite a bit, but also have little things for her mother and gma, plus my family. It adds up a bit, so i went with the 250-500 option.

Bought my wife a painting, which jacked up the total.

I tried to be conservative this year by being 'crafty' she's crafty, she gets around she's crafty, she's always down... sorry but it turns out it costs just as much to make stuff as it does to buy other stuff. Oh well, I think I'll get more points this way.

I'm sorry, what were you saying about altruism? Wink

I let the wife do ALL the christmas shopping. She loves it. Of course she buys more for us than she does for everyone else... Neutral

Looks like it'll be "ovah $1500" this year. Well, that's just a guess. So far, no one has sent me their "What I Want For Christmas" list.

And even though it's called a joint checking account, I don't get to carry the checkbook.

I see nothing wrong with this. Mr. Green
