"You have a partially torn ACL." So says my doctor.
Anyone need a reason why 30-somethings shouldn't be playing competitive soccer with 20 year olds? I'm it.
I'm going to discuss surgery vs. therapy options with Mrs. gman tonight. I'd personally like to postpone surgery as long as I can, although I'm sure it's inevitable.
So much for the Atlanta Half Marathon.

So sorry!!! I can get better.
Hubby tore his ACL playing touch football...never again has he played! He had surgury and ran his first marathon last January. So just be patient and let it heal.

Ouch! I'm so sorry G!
Partial tear...that would be better than a whole tear, right? Is it possible it can heal on its own without surgery?

When did this happen? My husband also tore his ACL in high school. He runs (not marathons) and it doesn't seem to hurt him any. Although he's tweaked it playing softball and had to have it drained it swelled up so big.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Yes. A partial is better than a full. That was part of my doctor's good news/bad news comedy routine.
I was told that it wouldn't technically heal, but it would build scar tissue if I didn't do something stupid to it (like reinjure it playing soccer, or run a half-marathon hmmm?).
If I go slow with it, and I heal well, I might not ever need surgery, so I'm told.

At last night's practice. I was in a collision with another player and my cleat stuck in the ground while the rest of my leg went the other way.
I knew I'd done something to it and sat out the rest of practice, and when I woke up this morning it was a bit swollen but was really, really stiff.

I hope not. I'm going to quiz the doc on a recovery timetable when I see him again next week.
