Hmm, not really sure about it. I just decided one day that I was going back to college. I looked at some programs, and Paralegal just seemed the right choice since I do so much research for family and friends and that is a big part of paralegal. I love finding stuff.
Now that I'm able to spend hours upon hours at the law library finding stuff, I know this is the best fit for me. I mean I hate it, LOL, but yeah, I love it too.

I was a double major. First picked: French. I'd spoken it fluently since I was 8 so I figured it'd be easy. Second: international studies as I was going to pursue a law career. Hated it, switched to history. French and history. Actually proved useful in my career path, too.

I had a double major of Merchandising Management and Clothing & Textiles. Made sense at the time because I wanted to go into the textile import business which I did for 6 years. Then I went for 2 years to get an MS in Textile Engineering...then realized that textile importing wasn't the type of business I wanted to be in. Went back for MBA in Finance and Marketing. If I had to do it all over I think that I would have taken either a more creative major, or something in the sciences....who knows?

Maybe you should have been an exporter, not an importer.

Ah ha! I see that you got my point exactly! Didn't feel so good about contributing to the declining textile business in the US

Lets see.... I started with Elementary Education. I got 2 semesters into it, at a private school, and came back home. It was costing my parents WAY too much. So I came back and went to community college for Early Childhood Education (preschool teacher). I decided it really wasn't the career for me... dropped out for a year.
The president of the company I used to work for talked me into going to school for Computer Information Systems (programmer). I thought it was a good idea and I liked the field. I have an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems. The problem is I don't think I'm all that good at it and in order to stay competitive (read: have a job) I'd have to keep going back to school. I just don't know. I'd rather be outside or at least doing something then sitting at a desk all day. So now I'm thinking about becoming a police officer. I've always thought about it but when I was a kid it wasn't something a girl really did. I've taken the State Trooper written test, just waiting for the rest. I've signed up for the Sheriff's test in December. We'll see how it goes.

Started out as a biochemistry major. I really wanted to go into genetics research. I still love to read the subject matter.
I switched after 2 years to Finance. To be honest with you, I'm not really sure why.
I kinda wish I had gone into the Management/Information Science program since that's what I do now (although the finance degree got me in the door here).

Took a sociology class my second semester at school and that was it. I just loved it. I loved everything about it. Didn't care that it wasn't very applicable jobwise.
Got out, worked for a while to get residency in TX, went to grad school for advertising. Loved it. Didn't love the ad world. Got into editing. Got into fundraising. Been in this field for close to 10 years.
Now I know I want to be a lawyer, so that's what I'm in school studying.

That is basically the truth for me.... Finance seemed like the easiest thing to get through with a degree that may have a job at the end...turns out I hate it, but hey--I got the degree...

Really though...
I knew from the 5th grade on that I wanted to be a teacher. That's the year I started babysitting. My mother was a teacher and I spent a lot of time in her classroom helping her growing up.
I started out at FSU with an "undeclared" major, but switched it to Elementary Education by my Sophomore year. Fortunately, I had taken the proper courses needed to get into the College of Education to start my Junior.
I don't regret my decision. I love to teach. To this day though I still think "what if" when it comes to salary and the money I could be making. This hits me hard today knowing that I'll be making "squat" my entire career when I work just as hard (or harder) than a lot of other people. If I had a Master's today...I'd only be making 3K more. I'd do it again, but sometimes I rethink it for the money.

I majored in beer drinking the first two years pretty much.
Then, I actually started studying and going to class.

I was going to major in physics and/or double in physics/Chem eng but you need a Ph.D. to get a job in physics so Comp Sci was my second choice.

I wanted to be a medical examiner (Quincy was my HERO as a kid) but decided there was too much math involved with med school so I doubled in education/psychology, planning to go into forensics from that angle. My advisor told me to pick one since I was going part time and would be 80 when I finished, so I picked psych. Left the field for a while due to my beef with managed care and went into corporate, thinking foolishly I could contribute from a different angle. Big mistake. Thought I wanted to go back into counseling so went for a Master's in that. Halfway through I rediscovered my love of research and teaching so I am planning to get a PhD in psych with an academic, rather than therapeutic, focus. Kind of came full circle although part of me would still love to be Quincy and I haven't ruled out a PhD in forensics either.
