I had been doing a job similar to my major since I was in 10th grade. I figured that since I enjoyed the networking and working with servers, why not make it a career.

I had the same idea except there were no majors that featured sleeping through life.
Seriously, though, I wanted a major that allowed me to avoid math as much as possible and allow me to talk a lot. (go figure)
So, I chose public relations.
I wanted to be a public affairs officer for the USAF.
Now I might choose RHM. Restaurant Hotel mgmt. Just for kicks to learn something new.

I started out as a music major (for 2 years) because I was good at music and thought that would be a nice career. After two years of having no real challenge I decided to go into a field that would be challenging for me. I always loved dolphins so I thought Biology would be a good match. I was going to become a marine biologist. However, going to college in KY didn't really provide that opportunity so I just stuck with straight Biology. I had several other options in there as well. I thought about being a photojournalist as well as a physical therapist but never actually declared them as my majors...just took classes of interest.
After college I took some computer courses and am now able to teach end-user subjects such as Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. Looking back I wish I would have gone down this road from the beginning. However, computers weren't quite as popular back then as they are now. Who would have thought!!!
BTW, people tell me all the time I should have been a sociologist. I tell them...WHERE'S THE MONEY IN THAT???!!!
