The South Dakota State Jackrabbits will take on the North Dakota State Bison for the first time as Division I schools!
Let the rivalry commence!
(OK, they've played each other for years, but as D II schools. Now, they have both moved to D I, so it's like deja vu all over again.)

Just a wild hunch, but I'm guessing that game won't be nationally televised.

I'm thinking it just might be on local tv, though, which is something.

I'll never understand "local" games. Instead of seeing the USC-Cal game, they're playing Oklahoma State and Colorado. Neither of them are local games... why not play the game with two top ten teams?

Some of us have no interest in seeing USC-CAL regardless of how high they are ranked if our favorite local team is playing. I suspect the local station in Baton Rouge decided there was more likely to be OK State and Colorado fans than USC-Cal fans in the area.
I would have been royally perturbed had the Georgia Tech-Maryland game been preempted by USC-CAL.

Good to see LSU get back on track. I also enjoyed seeing Tennessee put it to Georgia. Poor Terps

Of course. But Oklahoma State is hardly local. Even in-state games such as LaTech - Auburn aren't shown, even though that would be a much more obvious game that we would want to see, being an instate school and an SEC team. It makes no sense.

It does make sense. ABC is trying to show games of interest to your area based on conference affliations that they have contracts with: ACC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac 10. (The SEC games are shown by CBS.)
ABC affliates in cities/states in the Big 12 geographic area get the Big 12 game. The Southeast/Atlantic seaboard gets the ACC game. The West gets the Pac-10 area. The Midwest/Northeast usually gets the Big 10 game or the top national game.
As an ACC fan in Atlanta, I want to see the ACC conference games when my team isn't on - not the Pac 10 or Big 12 game regardless of whether No. 1 USC is involved.
LA is adjacent to Texas which means Big 12 coverage for most of your state when ABC goes to the split, regional coverage. Sometimes, LA is given the ACC game as they are still viewed as a Southern state.
The SEC has a nation-wide deal with CBS. so the entire nation gets the SEC 3:30pm eastern game which yesterday was GA/TN. The Auburn/LA Tech game wasn't on network TV.
Sometimes, ABC will shift viewers in the fringe areas if a game is close in the 2nd half. Some Georgia Tech fans (outside of Georgia) got screwed yesterday when ABC shifted them to the close USC/Cal game late in the 2nd half.
If you go to ABCSports.com on Wednesday or Thursday of this week, you can view a color-coded PDF file which displays the entire US map and which portions of the country are getting which game. Looks like there is a doubleheader next Saturday on ABC:
Noon
Michigan at Illinois
Oklahoma at Kansas State
3:30pm
Ohio State at Iowa
Arizona St. at USC
N.C. State at Maryland
Mississippi at Texas

I'm not arguing that you should be shown USC-Cal instead of a LOCAL game. Obviously if there was an SEC game, I'd rather see the SEC game than USC-Cal. But there wasn't. There are no Big 12 schools in the area. None. Because our state is "adjacent" to a Big 12 state is weak. It's a poor decision by the network, as I've never found anyone that would prefer to watch a lesser game in a conference that doesn't matter, and it can only be hurting the ratings.

The ABC affliate in your area can't show an SEC game. ABC doesn't have a contract with the SEC. They only show Big 12, Big 10, ACC, and Pac 10 games. CBS broadcast Tennessee vs. Georgia to the entire nation.
The choices your ABC affliate had at 3:30pm eastern this past Saturday to show you was:
USC vs. Cal
GT at Maryland
Ok State vs. Colorado
Purdue vs. Penn State
(The entire nation got the Oklahoma/Texas game at 12noon.)
If you wanted to watch a SEC game at 3:30pm (TN/UGA), you would have to flip over to your CBS affliate.
College football remains a very regional sport, especially when it comes to TV broadcasts.

GO POKES!
Homecoming is next week against Texas A&M. We're movin' on up!
The OU - Texas Game was closer than most expected. I suspect OSU will beat OU AGAIN this year, especially in Stillwater.
