Two of the few weekend highlights were FSU's big win and Northwestern kicking Ohio State where it counted.

My, oh my. . . football, esp. college football, does make for some odd bedfellows.
Some people I "thought" were my "friends" (you know who you are {pfff and kid}) seem to be taking joy in the unexpected loss of my beloved Buckeyes.
robp, I feel your pain, man. Since we did that 10K Sunday morning I didn't even stay up to watch the game, even though I got it. I just learned the news watching highlights during the 1:00 game on Sunday. Shocked, stunned, pissed.

Rex, I have a lot of respect for you but I'm having a really hard time reconciling the phrase "beloved Buckeyes"...you must be talking about those chocolate covered peanut butter balls that my autn makes at Christmas time, right? please???

The game was incredibly hot until just after half time. Tech didn't play bad except the quarterback seemed confused as to which team to throw the ball to (3 interceptions, 8 of 25 completion), the defense doesn't understand basic tackling and the special teams likes to drop the ball on punt returns to see if they can pick it up before Miami does. Other than that the 27-3 score wasn't bad. And the score was not as close as it looks.
As far as Coach Chan Gailey, I think this may indeed be his last year. I can see a 3-8 season real easily assuming Tech beats either Duke or UConn. And UConn is looking pretty good in its games this year. But I'll be in the stadium, win or lose.
LSU really let me down. Now I have to look to Florida and Auburn to trip the Athens Menace. |
Tech has to be better than they played on Saturday.
We're doing something right when we're referred to as the "Athens Menace" and you bother to capitalize it.

I don't know. Tech looked about the same this Saturday as they did last against UNC.
But I did have a heart to heart talk with the grandniece on the way home from the game about her goals in life (she enters 9th grade next year). She desires to be a veternerian (sp?) and is making the grades in her science and math classes to pursue that. So I told her she needs to start looking toward UGA and find out the requirements for their vet school, as it is one of the top ranked and most competitive schools to get into (the vet school, not UGA itself ). She assured me that is she attends UGA she'll always be a Tech fan. I just smiled at her and said it's not quite like that in real life.
